When Fashion Meets Music

Music celebrities and fashion designers have been walking hand in hand for a long time, and this trend is only set to grow. The artistic and individualistic nature shared by music and fashion makes them a perfect pair to create new sparkles.

Some collaborations even turned out to be a great driving force for sales. Last year, Kenya West’s Adidas Yeezy boosts were sold out within 10 minutes. Here is a round- up of some cool recent partnerships made by fashion and music:

Beyoncé & Topshop

Soon when you work out in gym, our Queen Bey can accompany you not only with her hip-switching vocals, but also with her new activewear line – Ivy Park. It was announced back in October 2014 that Beyoncé was setting up a joint venture with Topshop to launch her own athleisure brand, and now it’s ready. This stand-alone line will hit stores on the 14th April.

Though a celebrity’s brand seems to born with attentions from fans and media, Beyoncé and her team still make a great effort promoting her newborn brand. She debuted her logotastic sportswear on the cover of this month’s issue of Elle and gave the magazine a rare in-depth interview about her vision behind Ivy Park. She also released a short video and opened a designated Instagram for Ivy Park. There is a great chance that Ivy Park will replace Lululemon to become the next Superstar in the world of fitness fashion.

Rihanna & Manolo Blahnik

Less than a month after debuting her first Fenty x Puma show at NYFW in February, the Caribbean Queen just made another new fashion commitment. She teamed up with Manolo Blahnik, the Spanish fashion designer and founder of the self-named, high-end shoe brand, on a denim-driven shoe collection. It’s set to debut on May 5 and be sold only in NYC, London and Hong Kong.

The limited-edition capsule collection, called “Denim Desserts,” features sequins and embroidery inspired by Rihanna’s hand tattoos and includes four shoe styles—a thigh-high boot, a bootie, a mule and a strappy sandal. Rihanna showcases the thigh-high one on the cover of the April issue of British Vogue. It seems that the Barbadian singer have really caught fashion designers’ heart and shined like a diamond in the intersection of music and fashion.

Kanye West & Yeezy Season 3

The fashion-forward music mogul premiered his latest fashion collection Yeezy Season 3 last month during New York Fashion Week at Madison Square Garden along with the previewing of his new album The Life of Pablo. The new fashion line featuring fur, monochromatic sweaters and torn garments was a continuation of Mr. West’s typical urban high fashion style. Sadly, the price was still way too hefty for most people as even a T-shirt –the most affordable item— was priced at $195.

Though the show had been widely criticized for its absurd, dystopian style, Mr. West seemed very confident about his fashion idea and even declared through Twitter that he would launch 6 collections a year. Crazy? But isn’t it even crazier that people would buy a pair of Kanye’s light brown Adidas YEEZY Boost 750s on eBay for a cool $10,099 USD when it originally retails for $350? He has fans.
